About Meg Powell-Chandler

West Country born and bred, Meg Powell-Chandler is married with 2 children. She was born in Gloucester, her mum was a doctor in hospitals across Worcestershire and her late father was a policeman with the Gloucestershire constabulary. Meg went to secondary school in Gloucester and studied History and Politics at the University of Oxford. She trained to be a secondary school history teacher before moving to London to work in politics.

She has spent the bulk of her career working at the centre of Government in No10 Downing Street and in departments that matter enormously to our corner of Somerset like Education, Communities and Local Government and Culture, Media & Sport, which leads on tourism.

As a result, Meg knows how to get things done and has enormous experience in areas that matter to the communities she hopes to represent. She understands how to navigate the opaque world of Parliament and Government and wants to use these skills to deliver positive change for the people and communities of Wells and the Mendip Hills
